History: The name “cantuccio” was given to a safe corner where children could stay out of the way of daily tasks, away from the dangers of the kitchen. To keep them entertained, they were given a piece of bread or a biscuit to nibble on. This little treat helped convince them to stay put while the grown-ups went about their work.
